GERALDINE (GERRY) MURPHY (nee VERBIWSKI) 1939 - 2007 It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Geraldine Murphy on Sunday, December 2, 2007, at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 68 years. Remaining to forever cherish Gerry's memory are her husband, Eric; children, Debbie, Brent, Cheryl and Michael; grandchildren, Melanie, Nicholas, William, Emma and John; mother, Emily Verbiwski; sisters, Veloy and Carol; brother, Barry (Terry); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Neil. Geraldine was born in Endeavour, Saskatchewan, where she grew up on a farm. She then moved to Ketchen, Saskatchewan, where she went to school in Sturgis and then to Regina, where she met Eric, her husband for life, when she was 18 years old. They married in 1958. Through her years as a wife, mother and grandmother, she was generous to a fault, selfless and inspiring. Gerry was the glue that kept the family together. She was cherished in our family and will live in our hearts and thoughts forever. Gerry was always there to cheer on her children and grandchildren in any event they participated in and life in general. She will be missed tremendously by Dallas (the family dog) who she took for long walks every day. Gerry could be found shopping for deals early every Saturday morning, or meeting friends for coffee. Gerry's funeral service will be held on Friday, December 7 at 2:00 p.m. in The Bridge Church, 620 Oxbow Bend Road, located at the southwest corner of the Perimeter Highway and Portage Avenue. A private family interment will take place in Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Victoria Hospital for all of their support and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Geraldine's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 0S6.
